Small Spaces Can Make Big Impact on Your Decorating
Sometimes it the smallest room in the house that steals the show. Perhaps because the bath
is considered more functional and great design isn't expected. At any rate, it's a great
place to show off some extra style and an important space to make special. Don't put all your
really special accessories elsewhere and neglect your bathrooms. This room will be used by
everyone in the home at one time or another, particularly if it is a guest bath.
Baths and powder rooms are great places to do some experimenting with color and drama. Or you
can keep it more understated elegant. Add little touches that make it inviting and add an
element of surprise.
Here are some other tips:
Add wallpaper. Since the space is small, don't put in really busy patterns as it can make a person
dizzy. Vertical stripes will make the room feel taller, horizontal stripes will make the room feel
wider.
Don't settle for just one mirror. Add another in an unexpected place or upgrade the mirror that
came with the room with a custom frame.
Go all out on luxurious linens, soaps and such.
Add candles.
Add plants.
Upgrade the lighting - even to a chandelier - just make sure no one will bump their head on it.
Just be daring, a little, and see what you come up with.
